About Us

Police & Nurses was born in Western Australia in 1990, following the merger of Police Credit Society of Western Australia Ltd and Western Australia Nurses Credit Society Ltd. In 2001, we successfully merged with Energy Credit Union Ltd, welcoming representatives from the Fire Brigade, Western Power and Alinta gas.

Today we are WA’s largest locally owned and operated banking institution and we’re for plumbers & teachers & divers & train drivers & fire fighters & accountants & biologists & engineers & well, everyone.

We’re different to banks. We’re a mutual, which means we are owned by each and every member, not external stakeholders. This in turn means we can offer products and services with fairer fees and competitive rates tailored to our members’ needs. And any profits we make go straight back into benefiting our members.  Our goal is to always put our members first. We treat each and every member like an individual, not a number.

Only members who do their banking business with us can own a share in Police & Nurses. Being a member with a share in Police & Nurses allows you to be an active participant in the future direction and growth of our business. Members with a share are entitled to vote on the composition of our Board of Directors and attend Annual General Meetings.

In 2007 and 2008, we won the "Best Credit Union" award from the Australian Banking & Finance Magazine. Considering there are over 100 credit societies and credit unions in Australia, we're proud of this achievement.

And in a recent independent survey we scored a 96% member satisfaction rating, just reinforcing our member first philosophy.
